Sunset Beach and Treasure Island sit on the same barrier island — Sunset Beach is simply the quieter southern tip. Both have the same beautiful Gulf water and sunsets, but the feel of a stay can be quite different. Here's how to pick.
Treasure Island: wider, livelier, more to do
The main stretch of Treasure Island has the wider beach, more public access points, and more within walking or short driving distance — beach shops, casual restaurants and easy hops up to John's Pass. If you want a classic beach-town base with a bit of buzz, this is it.
Sunset Beach: quieter, calmer, more private
Sunset Beach is residential and low-key. The streets are quiet, the water is calm, and mornings on the sand can feel like you have the place to yourself. It's the choice for guests who want to unwind — and, true to the name, some of the best sunsets around. A local favorite here is Caddy's, right on the sand for drinks and live music.
How to choose
Pick Treasure Island if you value being close to the action and want the widest beach. Pick Sunset Beach if peace, privacy and sunsets top your list. And the good news: they're only minutes apart, so whichever you choose, the other is an easy visit.
